gTunes App Reviews

don’t buy with Yosemite!

It WAS the best app BEFORE Yosemite. Now it doesn’t work. The promised update on their website is missing.

Just what I was looking for.

I wanted something that I could start and let run the background while I work. I needed it to stay out of the way but be easily accesible (preferably via the media keys). gTunes fits the bill perfectly. Thank you so much!!! Keep up the amazing work!

Great Start

This is a great start to a more OS X integrated Play Music app. Would love to see some small annoyances adressed around the search field behavior and lack of multi-touch/gesture swipe navigation. For the search field you currently cannot copy and paste into, select all, or clear it without hitting the delet key or clear symbold multiple times. This is quite bizarre beavior for a native seach field on OS X. The ability to search via a hotkey like cmd+f would also be welcome. While almost all of the app is in a web view, it shoud still be possible to support mutli-touch/single finger gesture swipes to go back and forth for navigation.

Just what I was looking for.

Nice and simple. Everything I need. No cruft. -media key support -mini player -Notifications Song history is a nice plus.

great app , can be the best with a little more improvements

This is a great app and appears to have the same google looks which I’ve grown accustomed to so no relearning or getting used to something new. A few things I would like to see improved are as followed: -Remote control from iPhone. -In app airplay control. -Optional Status Bar controls. -buggy after computer goes to sleep , wont play upon awakening , have to quit app and reopen.

Good app. All it needs to be

It’s nothing too incredible, but it doesn’t need to be. It runs just fine and makes it so I don’t have to keep a tab open in my browser. Media key functionality is also very nice to have. It would be nice if it handled thumbs down/up from right cilck on icon better. If you’ve already thumbed it, then it will remove the thumb. It would be nice if it would keep the thumb and for thumbs down, just skip the song. Or if before clicking “thumb up” or “thumb down” from the right-click menu, if it would show you whether you’ve already thumbed the song or not. Not a big concern, but would be nice to see.

it’s nice that it uses google’s interface, but...

it’s horribly glitchy. going into album art fullscreen mode makes the audio completely unusuably glitchy, the scrolling is laggy, and the app makes my brand new 2013 rMBP feel like a 7yo computer. even simply scrolling through the “listen now” tab can cause the currently playing track to glitch out for a few seconds. none of these issues are present when using safari or chrome to access play music. the only reason i continue to use it is because g-ear uses a more iTunes-like interface (yuck, google knows best) and neither safari nor chrome support using the media keys.

Flash makes it gobble resources

It is just a browser shell, so you have to have Flash installed, and it makes the whole program unstable on older Macs. Too bad. G-Ear is much MUCH better, though more expensive.

Latest version fixes all the quirks

The recent update, released on Feb 04, fixed all the problems I had with previous versions: namely drag-and-drop and right-click. I can’t stress how nice it is to have Play Music playing outside a browser window, with media keys and Notification Center pop-ups when the song changes.

Its great! Just one thing...

Please add the chromecast function that works on the website. I believe they just released their SDK recently. If this feature is added it would be a perfect application! Thank you!

Good, but low fps scrolling

Low fps when scrolling album art, even making the window very small is not very good. Web browsers have much smoother scrolling. 2014 iMac GTX 780. Other than that, it’s great - mini player and notifications are awesome.

Almost perfect

Even after closing the application there is a process in the Activity Monitor that is constantly using more than 50% of the CPU. It kills my MBPr battery and I have to remember to close out the process or it will slow my computer to a craw. Using Google Music in the browser doesn’t cripple my computer.

Does not work with YosemiteUpdate!

If they decide to update this app to work with Yosemite then this would be a 5 star rating easily! before Yosemite this app worked like a charm and was able to sync imediately with any playlists and changes made through other devices in the all play music account.

Doesnt Work with Yosemite

Before Yosemite it was great! Once updated for Yosemite it will be a 5 star application!!!

Needs update for yosemite :(.. Hope it comes soon this is a great app

Does not currently work wiht Yosemite, but is by far the best app for Google Music for OSX

Not for Yosemite “Yet"

Support for Yosemite is not there. Application will not load. Once support is enabled for Yosemite, this is a GREAT application.

DOA

SImply doesn’t work. Installed at work - MBP 10.8x loads but won’t play anything. Installed at home MBP 10.10 and loads an empty shell - no music, nada. Glad I only burnt a dollar.

Does not work with yosemite

Does not work with yosemite - bummer

Music won’t show up

The side bar and the header will load but if you click “My Library” or anything, NOTHING will show up. Please fix!

UPDATE PLEASE!!!!

I hate that they have not done an update for Yosemite yet! I loved this app before the update on the OS X. If they did the update this one star would be a 5 star!
